General and permanent orders, 1904-1982.

This series consists of orders issued by the Dept. of Military Affairs, and its predecessors, the Military Dept. and the Adjutant General's Office from 1904-1941 and 1946-1982. Until 1975 these orders were titled General Orders. From 1975 to 1982 they were titled Permanent Orders. Original print copies for the period 1923 to 1941 are partially available; the entire period 1904-1971 is on microfilm. Print originals are available for the period 1946-1982. These orders include directives from the Governor of Florida, the Adjutant General of Florida, and the National Guard Bureau, as well as announcements of awards, reorganization of units, deaths, and retirements.

The Florida National Guard was established in 1909 (Ch. 5930, Laws) replacing the Florida State Troops. From 1921 until 1973, the Guard was placed under the Military Dept (Ch. 8502, Laws).
